UN Women Bolivia Holds the Third Edition of the "Actions for Equality" HeForShe Recognition to Promote Gender Equality in Business

March 12 - The third edition of the "Actions for Equality" recognition was held, an event organized by UN Women Bolivia, Fundación Iguales, Global Compact Network Bolivia, and the Embassy of Sweden in Bolivia. This initiative seeks to highlight and make visible business actions that promote a more equitable work environment, guaranteeing the same opportunities for women and men. 

This recognition is part of the global HeForShe movement, promoted by UN Women since 2015, which invites men to actively join the pursuit for gender equality. During the ceremony, Nidya Pesántez, UN Women representative in Bolivia, and Patricia Hurtado, president of the Fundación Iguales, presented recognitions to five companies led by men for their commitment to equity and inclusion in the corporate sphere.

The recognition was categorized into three areas: financial inclusion, women's leadership, and co-responsibility in care. Five companies were distinguished for their commitment to advancing gender equality and women's empowerment in these areas:

1. Banco PYME Ecofuturo S.A.,
2. Droguería INTI S.A.,
3. Grupo Paz,
4. Itacamba Cemento S.A. and
5. Sociedad Boliviana De Cemento S.A.

With a nationwide approach, "Actions for Equality" not only rewarded successful initiatives, but also reaffirmed the commitment of the business sector to the creation of more inclusive and sustainable workplaces, as well as the growing potential for the expansion of male allyship. The event represented another step towards the construction of a more equitable society, where gender equality is a key axis for the economic and social development of the country.
