HeForShe Alliance Impact Report 2024 Launch

HeForShe 2024 IMPACT Report

New York, Monday 23 September

“This report tells the story of the HeForShe movement at the heart of social mobilization for positive change.  Ten years ago, UN Women launched a call to create a global community of gender equality supporters, across generations and geographies.  Today HeForShe has connected over 2 million local activists who spark over 3 billion online conversations about gender equality every year.”

Sima Bahous, Executive Director of UN Women and Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations

As HeForShe marks its 10th anniversary, we are proud to announce the launch of the 2024 HeForShe IMPACT Report. This year’s report is a testament to the extraordinary progress made by HeForShe Alliance Champions, who have collectively driven significant advancements in gender equality. The report highlights the cumulative results of the Alliance's efforts, demonstrating how coordinated action can lead to transformative change for women and girls worldwide.

The 2024 IMPACT Report reflects the dedication and leadership of our Alliance Champions, who have turned their commitments into action, resulting in meaningful and lasting change.

“Gender equality is a unique key accelerator for achieving every one of the 17 SDGs. The HeForShe Alliance members’ results are proof of that. Each partner institution of the Alliance, whether public sector, private sector or third sector, has benefitted from the transformational change brought about by the pursuit of gender equality created on our own terms and in specific contexts.”

HeForShe Alliance Joint Statement

The HeForShe Alliance Champions have made remarkable strides in advancing gender equality, an important contribution to the Beijing+30 progress review. Significant achievements include a substantial increase in female representation across organizations, with 45% of Champions enhancing overall female representation and 64% boosting the number of women in top leadership positions. The push for gender-equal representation also saw 50% of Champions increasing the percentage of women on their boards. In addition, leadership and mentorship programs have flourished, with initiatives spanning 25 countries and achieving impressive retention rates.

Economic empowerment and support for survivors of domestic violence have also been key focuses. The Vodafone Foundation’s Bright Sky app has reached 1 million users, providing vital resources to survivors across 13 countries. Economic initiatives like De Beers' EntreprenHer program have empowered thousands of women, while DP World’s Solar Mamas project has positively impacted over 1,000 households. Furthermore, the HeForShe Alliance has made considerable progress in promoting gender parity and pay equity, with Champions like the Government of Japan and Vodafone leading efforts to close the gender pay gap.

As we celebrate our 10th anniversary, we look forward to building on this momentum and continuing to drive progress towards a more gender-equal world. The HeForShe Alliance remains committed to advancing gender equality, and the 2024 IMPACT Report is a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we work together.
