New York, NY, 7 March 2025 – HeForShe welcomes Teck as the newest member of the HeForShe Alliance, with Teck President and CEO Jonathan Price named a HeForShe Champion. This partnership marks an important step toward fostering gender equality in a traditionally male-dominated industry where progress is taking place but can and must be accelerated.

“As someone who works with courageous and talented women every day, my commitment to creating gender equality aligns with our core values and is important to me personally. I’m very proud to join the HeForShe Alliance, to represent a company making important progress in gender equality, and to help create a workplace where all women at all levels have the opportunity to build meaningful careers.”
- Jonathan Price, HeForShe Champion and President and CEO of Teck

The HeForShe Alliance reinforces Teck’s commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment and provides a framework for advancing these efforts, including a goal to increase the percentage of women in Teck’s workforce to 30 per cent by 2030. The World Economic Forum’s Lighthouse report showcases the company’s impressive track record in this area, including the establishment of Inclusion Centres at many of its sites that provide 24/7 safe spaces, professional counseling and awareness programs to prevent gender-based violence and promote workplace respect.

As a HeForShe Alliance leader, Teck will continue to sustain and expand transformative initiatives focused on three key areas:

Teck commits to support domestic violence survivors and make the workplace a safe place for every employee, inspired by HeForShe research “Small steps big difference”.

Teck commits to advance employee engagement and support for gender equality and women’s empowerment objectives by designing and implementing Male Allyship programmes and initiatives.

Teck will work to amplify the inclusion of Indigenous women in corporate workforces, using its experiences and partnerships to highlight the importance of equity and representation for underrepresented groups.

“Our partnership with the Alliance builds on over a decade of work at Teck to advance gender equality in alignment with the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles, and it’s an important opportunity for us to step up and speak up for gender equality across our worldwide sites and offices and in the communities where we live and work.”
- Jonathan Price, HeForShe Champion and President and CEO of Teck

This partnership exemplifies the power of collaboration in advancing gender equality and serves as a call to action for other organizations to join the movement for systemic change.

With less than six years remaining to achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 5: Gender Equality, and as the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (Beijing+30) approaches, the urgency to accelerate progress has never been greater. The HeForShe Alliance and its Champions are committed to driving sustainable and equitable solutions to advance gender equality.
