Tshisekedi
President Tshisekedi will act as a Champion for positive masculinities as the Supreme Magistrate of the Democratic Republic of Congo and ensure the 10 key points of the Kinshasa Declaration of the States of the African Union are implemented with annual evaluations, in the Democratic Republic of Congo as well as across the key region of Africa.
President Tshisekedi and the Democratic Republic of Congo specifically commits to:
- Condemning all forms of discrimination and violence against women and girls and ensuring that the necessary policies and measures are put in place by Member States to firmly tackle all forms of violence and impunity;
- Recognizing the contributions of Heads of State and Governments, Champions of the cause of women, to officially launching the Circle of Champions, and encouraging our peers to expand this Circle to amplify this agenda;
- Launching the African Union Campaign to End Violence against Women and Girls and implementing a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of violence against women and girls in conflict situations and post-conflict;
- Supporting the Chairperson of the African Union Commission in the implementation of the new Maputo Protocol Scorecard and Index as a tool to accelerate the realization of the rights of women and girls.
- Enabling participatory approach and an intergenerational approach, to mobilize all stakeholders, particularly young people, religious and traditional leaders, civil society, African women leaders and the private sector.
- Providing the necessary resources to fight violence against women and girls and engaging the private sector to develop and implement policies and programs that promote positive masculinity.
